About the new Age UK website

The new Age UK website is for you. It’s been designed with you in mind to provide you with the information you want‚ to allow you to express your opinions‚ and to give you a simple way to get involved with everything we do.

It’s easy to use‚ and there’s a wide range of fun and interesting articles to entertain and hopefully inspire you.

You can also find a wide range of products and services, designed with the over-50s in mind.

The main sections of the site reflect the topics that matter to you:

Within each of these sections‚ you’ll be able to find advice and information‚ plus read feature articles.

How we designed the new website

To come up with the best design for the new website‚ we consulted real people who already use our existing websites at every stage of the project‚ asking what they think and what they want:

  • We carried out an online survey to find out who visits our websites and why
  • We held focus groups to get a better understanding of how our audience uses the web
  • We analysed data to see what information people are looking for
  • We held ‘usability’ tests on early prototypes of the website to identify any problems people might have when using it
  • We asked for people’s opinions on what to name the various sections of the website and where specific pages should be located

There’s always room for improvement‚ and this research is ongoing. So please do contact us to tell us what you think.

What happened to the old Age Concern and Help the Aged websites?

Once we launched the new Age UK website, our old Age Concern and Help the Aged websites were taken offline‚ although most of the content they contained is now available on this website.

Links to pages on our old websites that are not the home page have been redirected to pages on the new Age UK website. Where possible‚ we will have taken you to a page on the new Age UK website which contains very similar content to the old page in question‚ but where this is not possible‚ you will have been redirected you to the new Age UK home page.

What happened to the Age Concern and Help the Aged discussion boards?

At the moment‚ the Age Concern discussion board is still available while we plan and develop an improved Community area‚ which will be fully integrated into the new website. Once this new Community area goes live‚ the old Age Concern discussion board will be taken offline (n.b. users will be notified before this change happens).

The Help the Aged discussion board has been taken offline‚ but the Age Concern discussion board will be available to these users until the new Age UK Community area goes live.

What will happen to e-newsletters? Will I still receive them?

In June‚ Age Concern Living Room and Help the Aged Website Update and Linkage subscribers will start to receive ‘Your Email Update’‚ a new fortnightly newsletter from Age UK.

Professional audiences who are subscribed to Help the Aged Policy Update and Age Concern ‘Your Information Update’ will also start to receive Age UK Professional Series emails later this year.

What will happen to the websites of the nations?

Age ScotlandAge Cymru and Age Northern Ireland now have parallel websites to the website of Age UK. You can specify your location to see information that’s relevant to the nation in which you live by using the blue box in the top right of this page.

What will be the new email address / phone number to contact you?

You can contact us directly on the site.

If you need advice and information‚ you will be able to call Age UK Advice free on 0800 169 6565. For other enquiries‚ you can call free on 0800 169 8787‚ and our customer service team will connect you to someone who can help.
