We open in a studio set.
A lady in her 80’s walks into the middle to a microphone on a stand. She’s understandably a little nervous, it’s endearing.
Lady: It’s not easy growing old. Millions of us live in poverty and isolation. But Age UK’s volunteers and supporters are making our lives better, and this is our way of saying thank you.

The lights go on, we see a large group of older people on the set.
Lady: 1,2,3,4.
A group of older people with instruments begin play the intro to Chicken Payback by The Bees.
All the dancers say the first word – ‘Chicken.’
The lady at the microphone kicks in and, boy, can she sing.
Singer: Pay the chicken back, back,Pay the chicken back,Pay back the chicken back,Do the chicken payback.
A group from a dance class begin to dance to the music – some tap, some jive, some ballroom.
A group of people walk in and hand tea to some older people who are dancing with their arms while sitting in armchairs and sofas. The helpers then spin the sofa round - clearly written across the back of the sofa are the words Thanks for the home visits.
They are joined by a group from an exercise class, who do a choreographed keep fit routine. They part to reveal an art class with a very long canvas. On the canvas are large, painted letters which read the social and exercise groups.
A mobility scooter display team join the throng, they drive about in a synchronised dance. One of them is towing a beautifully designed board on which is clearly written the words the mobility aids.

The lead singer kicks in.

A group of performers in their 80’s join in – they’re juggling tea cakes and scones.
A group stand next to telephones. They are picking up and putting down the receivers in a synchronized wave. Above them a large speech bubble descends reading the advice lines.
Another group come and perform a jazz hands, hand-warming dance over radiators. Clearly written across the radiators are the words energy deals.
They all shout – ‘Monkey.’
The singer kicks in.
Singer: Pay the monkey back, back,Pay the monkey back,See the monkey, do the monkey,Pay the monkey back.
A group dressed as holiday makers in their beach gear dance on set, they all unravel beach towels, across which are clearly written the words the travel insurance. Another man unfurls a beach towel which reads and everything else.

As the music continues in the background, the singer talks to camera. As she does a big backdrop with Age UK’s logo, ‘Improving later life’ and contact details unfurls behind them.
