Caring Neighbourhood Scheme

The Caring Neighbourhood Scheme can provide volunteersto visit or catch up with you on the phone.

Care for your neighbourHome visits

You will be carefully matched with a volunteer who can visit your home on a regular basis to share a cup of tea and a chat.

This scheme is for older people who are housebound or feeling socially isolated.

Your match with a volunteer is intended to be a long term relationship and real friendships are often forged.

A regular phone call or visitPhonelink

The Phonelink scheme provides an alternative to a home visit. A volunteer will call you each week to check you are well, to catch up on the news and to provide a link to the outside world.

More information

We have volunteers who speak Asian heritage languages. The Caring Neighbourhood scheme currently supports nearly 100 older people living in the borough.
