Welcome to the Dementia Action Alliance Brighton & Hove
Hello, my name is Matthew Moors. I am the new Dementia Action Alliance coordinator for Brighton and Hove based at the local Age UK offices.
You have been included in this initial communication as you have either previously expressed an interest in the Dementia Action Alliance Brighton and Hove (DAA BH) or I thought you and/or your organization would be interested in learning how you could become a part of it.
In my first month in post I have already spoken to a great number of you and have been really impressed by the passion and commitment people have to helping support people with dementia in Brighton and Hove live better lives.

The DAA BH has 6 main objectives –

Dementia Action Alliance / Health and Wellbeing

Brighton and Hove achieves recognition as a Dementia Friendly Community;
Dementia Awareness is raised significantly within Brighton and Hove;
Sustainability is built into the service model through the creation of community links / forums / groups
Increased health and wellbeing of people with dementia and their carers;
Reduced social isolation of people with dementia and their carers;
People with dementia and their carers experience significant improvements in their experience of living in Brighton and Hove;

My first task is to set up the DAA BH e-portal/hub in order for me and you to share information quickly and efficiently amongst DAA members so that we can work towards these objectives. For this I will be using a site called Wiggio that I will be asking you to register to (details below). I hope to be able to ensure that the information you receive is relevant to you dependent on what level of involvement you wish to have with the DAA BH.

If you know of anyone else that you think would like to be included on the DAA BH hub then please let me know their details. Please also feel free to contact me by email if you have any initial thoughts on the shape and direction of the DAA BH.
Please click HERE to join the Wiggio DAA hub - all you need to do is enter your email address and it will sign you up. This is where you will find all of the alliance communication and where we can plan and discuss as a community.
I look forward to working with you all to create an exciting hub for all of the work locally around dementia awareness and care.
In anticipation of the good work to come,
Matthew, Dementia Action Alliance Coordinator
