Age UK Brighton and Hove (AUKBH) is the City’s leading charity which support older people, combats social isolation and loneliness, provides the support and advice older people need and assists them to live independent and fulfilling lives and, as far as possible, stay in their own homes through the provision of services and the promotion of older people’s views to policy makers, service planners and funders.
We are the leading Charity in the City working in the field of Adult Social Care and work frequently with other charities. We assist approximately 9,000 older people every year and employ circa 30 staff with a further 90 volunteers.
AUKBH is seeking people who have demonstrated strategic vision, independent judgment and a willingness to give time and commitment to being one of the charity’s Board of Trustees. The Board has several areas of expertise it is seeking to fill:
- Adult Social Care
- Premises - strategic and Commercial Development
- Providing services to traditionally hard to reach groups
Additionally, AUKBH is looking to broaden its funding base by developing its trading potential and we would also welcome applications from people with wider and generalized experience which might be of use in this field and to support a modern and expanding Charity working in Adults Social Care.
These are interesting and challenging opportunities to support and develop an organisation with an ambitious 3 year strategic plan and we welcome applications from all sections of the community. We have a dynamic group of committed and knowledgeable Trustees who will be wholly supportive of new members.
You will be asked to attend up to 6 evening board meetings per year, an annual one-day planning session and be willing to attend meetings for any working groups or sub-groups that you choose to join. In addition you will need to spend time in preparing for these meetings and undertake any follow up work.
If you would like to know more about the role, contact the Chief Executive, Jessica Sumner: firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an informal telephone call.
