How we helped

Our Information & Advice team was contacted by a man concerned that his friend, who was 79 years old, had been in bed all week and hadn’t eaten for days.

We got in touch of the GP, who in turn sent out an ambulance. The paramedic arrived but decided that there was no need for hospitalisation and left.

We were certain that the man needed some help, as he was losing his balance and falling over.

Our Crisis service agreed to visit the client once a day and to prepare 2 meals at that visit.

Realising that he needed more support than expected, they increased the visits to 3 per day and monitored his health.

This involved further investigations for urinary tract infections and a referral to social care.
