Want to make a difference in your community? We are currently recruiting for the below volunteer roles: 

  • FAB Chess Cafe Host

    Friends Ageing Better is recruiting friendly hosts to support our FAB Chess Club in Bedminster. Our FAB Chess Club is a weekly opportunity for people over 50s to reconnect with chess through learning how to play chess and challenging each other.

  • Become a Trustee

    Could you join our Board of Trustees? Age UK Bristol is looking for someone who knows numbers and finance to support our team. Get in touch today.

  • Memory Connections Volunteer

    The Memory Connections service is looking for two volunteers to help with our weekly sessions for people with mild to moderate dementia. You could help with activities and planning as well as having a friendly chat.

  • FAB LGBTQ+ Cafe Volunteer

    Friends Ageing Better is recruiting friendly hosts to support our FAB LGBTQ+ Friendly cafe in St Werburghs. Our FAB Café is a weekly opportunity for people over 50 to meet up for a cup of something hot and have a chat. In this volunteer role, you’ll be part of creating a vibrant, welcoming community space that builds relationships and connects people from the LGBTQ+ community.

  • Helpline Call Handler

    Are you a good listener? As a Helpline volunteer you will be answering calls and responding to queries, signposting, and referring callers to Age UK Bristol services.

  • FAB Disco Volunteer

    Do you like music and talking to people? You could become a volunteer at our FAB Discos. Help make the events run smoothly and have a dance at the same time. 

  • Art on Zoom Facilitator

    Are you a caring, conversational person who enjoys creating community? In this volunteer role, you’ll help to welcome and facilitate a welcoming online space for older people to come together and create art. We occasionally meet the group in person too, as pictured above when the group held an exhibition of their work.

  • FAB Cafe Host

    The Friends Ageing Better (FAB) community network is looking for hosts for its FAB cafés around Bristol. In this volunteer role, you’ll be part of creating vibrant, welcoming community spaces that build relationships and connect people with activities in their local community.

These roles are open to anyone over 18 years old. Please note that to ensure support from paid staff is always available, all volunteer roles are carried out Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. Click on the links to the role descriptions below for more information.  If you are interested in one of these roles please complete the Volunteer application form and return it to volunteering@ageukbristol.org.uk Please state on the form which role you are most interested in.
