Volunteering with Age UK Camden is a great way to engage with and contribute to the local community.

The activities we offer are directly involved in service delivery, helping us to translate our mission into actions that make a real difference to people’s lives. We aim to offer a positive experience for everyone involved so volunteers can see the benefit of their input.

Corporate volunteering activities

Gadget workshops
It’s vital that older people are engaged with technology and the opportunities this brings. At the workshops – led by six to eight corporate volunteers – participants bring along their smartphones, tablets and laptops and are supported in learning how to use them. The workshops last about two hours, with up to three planned into a day, allowing a rota of staff to be involved. The workshops usually take place on a Monday or Thursday.

Activity at one of our resource centres
We’ve had talent shows, quizzes, tea dances and game tournaments. Teams – usually around 8-12 people – discuss their ideas with the centre manager and then plan and deliver the activity.Activity at Age UK Camden resource centre

Day trip for resource centre members
Some of the people we support enjoy going out and about, but are less confident or able do things on their own. Organising an outing to a place of interest with staff acting as buddies is a great way of interacting and providing support.

Film and afternoon tea
If you have a space that is accessible for older people, you could organise and host a film and afternoon tea event.

Help out at an event
We often need an extra pair of hands at fundraising events, which can be anything from selling raffle tickets to playing a musical instrument shaking, chatting to some of our members or shaking a collection tin. Email suzy.barber@ageukcamden.org.uk for more information

Throw a fundraiser
Maybe you could organise a sports event, snooker or darts match with your staff and/or customers, or encourage them to enter a sponsored event and match fund the amount raised. Find out more about fundraising for us or email suzy.barber@ageukcamden.org.uk.

Sponsor an event
We often need financial support with events we are organising as that means more of the proceeds raised goes to the people we help. In return we can name you as a sponsor and put your name on the marketing material, have a banner bearing your name and logo at the event and include you across our social media channels. Email suzy.barber@ageukcamden.org.uk for more information
