Community, friendships, possibilities – loving later life

Amrit comes every day for a freshly cooked lunch, Mavis likes the tai chi and the music appreciation classes on Wednesday, Bill enjoys the yoga on Mondays and chess on Thursdays.

These are just some of the older people Age UK Camden’s much-loved Henderson Court Resource Centre in Hampstead supports every week.

As well as offering a wide range of activities and workshops, Henderson Court is a place where people can go for company, a chat and a cup of tea. It’s where friendships are enjoyed and a real sense of community is experienced for manyolder people who may otherwise be isolated and alone. And for those who can’t get to the centre, Henderson Court also runs the Hampstead Good Neighbours scheme, a vital service that offers befriending and companionship for older housebound people in NW3.

“This place is what keeps me going.”
