Age UK & Macmillan Cancer Support
Working together to support people in Cumbria affected by cancer.

The Macmillan and Age UK Cancer Support Project is a Partnership between Age UK in Cumbria, Macmillan Cancer Support, Cumbria County Council and NHS Cumbria.
This service fits with the aims of Age UKs in Cumbria - to support older people in the county to live healthy and active lives, and the aim of Macmillan Cancer Support - to engage local communities in supporting people affected by cancer.
Throughout Carlisle and Eden we have developed support for those affected by cancer by listening to those affected. You might be a patient recently diagnosed who is undergoing treatment or has completed a course of treatment, or a carer, a patient’s relative, friend or neighbour, or you may have been bereaved as a result of cancer.
Working alongside members of the community, medical staff, volunteers and other voluntary groups we are now able to provide services for you no matter how you are affected by this disease. We can provide someone for you to to talk to who understands, or you may wish to meet people who have similar experiences.
We can help you obtain correct information, including who to contact and when, and what to do in the event of a bereavement.

There are also opportunities to be involved in maintaining these valuable support services as a volunteer for the Age UK and Macmillan Community Services.
If you would like further information or if you know someone who you think could benefit from this valuable support network, or you may like to volunteer please contact our Resource Centre on 01768 863 618.
