A warm welcome awaits!
Memory Lane Café is a monthly get together offering a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with new opportunities to meet and talk to people, get involved in activities or just sit back with a hot drink.
What is Memory Lane Café and where did it come from?
Memory Lane Café is based on the model set up in Holland by Dr Bere Miesen. The underlying aims are to offer those with memory problems a relaxed and informal setting in which to:
- Socialise
- Meet people in a similar situation to themselves
- Share concerns openly
- Explore new opportunities
- Make positive plans for the future
- Receive information and support
- Involve family or carers
Most importantly the feedback we have received tells us that sessions are; 'enjoyable, fun and informative.'
We now have a number of groups running throughout Carlisle and Eden, each of them tailored to the requirements of those attending.
The groups are supported by volunteers — many of whom have had previous experience of supporting someone who has had memory loss. They offer vital understanding and a listening ear as well as contributing to the activities and the fun we all enjoy at each session.
The scheme works closely with other local agencies to ensure that those attending have the opportunities to collect the information and support they need.
