Promoting Independence Partnership Project - PIPP
Information and support to help you remain independent.
PIPP - What is it?
The Promoting Independence Partnership Project (PIPP) provides a service for anyone living in Carlisle and Eden over the age of 50 who wants to maintain their independence. The project is funded by Cumbria County Council and managed in this area by Age UK Carlisle and Eden.
We work with over 500 dedicated volunteers to promote health and wellbeing, help you to understand how you can improve later life and therefore make later life fulfilling and enjoyable.
The Project can put you in contact with a range of services to assist in continuing to live at home and find new opportunities in the local community.
What can PIPP do for you?
Your needs will be discussed with a PIPP officer, who will suggest ways of dealing with the issues identified.
These may include:
- Information and advice on housing issues, aids and adaptations, problems with goods and services, etc.
- Help with filling in forms, such as Attendance Allowance and other welfare benefit claims
- Advice and Information on healthy living, clubs, social groups and leisure activities
- Support to help you access the right services and activities
- Help to solve problems
- Home safety advice and practical help to reduce the risk of accidents
- Hire of mobility scooters and other equipment
How to use the service
You can contact the project directly, either by calling us on 01768 863 618 or by calling into the Resource Centre in Penrith, or our offices in Spencer Street, Carlisle.
You can also be referred by a carer, a relative, friend, GP, District Nurse, other Health Care Professional, or a member of the Adult Social Care team - provided they have your permission. Once a referral has been received, the PIPP worker will contact you within five working days, and will arrange an appointment within two weeks.
Home Visits can be arranged if appropriate. Please note that the PIPP Co-ordinator would never visit without first making an appointment.
