Helping older people to protect themselves from telephone fraud.

Older people are targeted ruthlessly over the phone resulting in £millions being obtained fraudulently.
If you like meeting and talking to people, our new project is ideal for you. We are looking for volunteers to join our exciting new initiative 'Beat the Scammers'. The project aims to help older people with practical suggestions and small changes that will give them the confidence to ‪#‎HangUpOnFraud.
The project will start in the Derwent Valley (Consett, Medomsley) and then we hope to roll it out across the county. Full training and support will be given.
We are working closely with the Fraud Specialist Investigation Team and Trading Standards. The initiative is part funded by Derwent Valley Area Action Partnership and Durham Police Crime and Victims' Commissioner.

Older people are targeted ruthlessly over the phone resulting in £millions being obtained fraudulently.

We're working with the Fraud Specialist Investigation Team and Trading Standards to help older people protect themselves from telephone fraud. The initiative is part funded by certain Area Action Partnerships.

Our project helps older people by sharing practical suggestions with them and showing them how making small changes will give them the confidence to ‪#‎HangUpOnFraud.  In some areas we can also install Call Blocker equipment into the homes of older people who receive a high volume of nuisance calls.

Please download the Beat the Scammers Referral form  and/or Request a talk form or contact us for more information.

If you like meeting and talking to people, this project is also ideal for you.  We need volunteers to join Beat the Scammers project (full training and support will be given).
