Garden & community allotment
With help and support you can experience the rewards of growing your own fruit, vegetables and flowers.
Our community garden offers activities for all abilities. You can garden or potter about at your own pace, meet new people and make friends in pleasant, accessible and safe surroundings.
How we work
Everyone is supported to garden at their own pace and ability, share skills and make new friends. The rewards of gardening are immense, offering a sense of achievement and improved health and well-being.
While gardening in the fresh air gives you the chance to do some real hands-on work, you would also be very welcome just to come and sit for a while, smell the flowers and listen to the birds sing.
What facilities are there?
We have tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy a picnic lunch. There are also basic toilet facilities and several covered areas for when the weather isn’t so good. Part of the site is wheelchair accessible with high-level beds, making it easy for everyone to join in.
How much does it cost?
Our community garden is subsidised by Age UK Coventry and members make a small contribution for each visit.
You can also take home and enjoy some of the vegetables, fruit and flowers that you help to grow.
Where is the community garden?
Our community garden is based on an allotment site at Four Pounds Avenue, Chapelfields and is not very far from Coventry City Centre.
It is served by the 23 and 23C bus routes.
Could you help us?
We need volunteers to support members who need a bit of extra help to join in. You don’t need to be an expert gardener as guidance is always on hand.
What you do need is some spare time, lots of enthusiasm and a sense of humour. If you’d like to work in the fresh air in a friendly environment, then we’d love to hear from you.
You will have the back-up of a friendly and supportive team, an induction session to learn more about Age UK Coventry and your role, plus further learning opportunities, with all travelling expenses reimbursed.

How else could I help?
Our community garden always welcomes any spare seeds, plants, tools and equipment, from shears to garden sheds. Please let us know if you have anything that might be of use.
