We offer a free, impartial and confidential information and advice service at our offices in Katharine Street, Croydon, to provide you with the facts to help you make informed choices and decisions.
This service is available to people aged 50 and over, and/or their friends, carers and relatives, living in the London Borough of Croydon.

First Contact helpline - 0845 600 1090
The First Contact helpline on 0845 600 1090 is now open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm. Help is available on a variety of topics, including benefits and money matters, help at home, health problems and transport.

We aim:
- To provide the knowledge and support people need to make the decisions that are right for them and will assist them to lead their lives in the way they choose.
- To provide information on a wide range of services and resources, both local and national.
- To advise on entitlement to welfare benefits and help individuals to make claims where applicable.
- To have a sympathetic response to older people's concerns.
We hold the Community Legal Service Quality Mark and General Help Level. If we can't help, we can usually put you in touch with people who can, such as Community Legal Advice (the new name for Community Legal Service Direct).

- Leisure and social activities

- Family and personal matters
- Your rights to local services
- And most other things that affect your quality of life
What we can offer you:
- We will give you information that is accurate and up-to-date
- We can explain the choices you have
- We will help you decide what to do, but it is always your choice
- We may be able to take action for you on your behalf if you would like us to
- We can provide small grants for essential needs if there is no other source of help.
If we can't help, we will advise on other sources of help if the query is more specialist than our level of expertise
How we work:
- We will not charge you for our service
- We will not tell anyone about your business without your consent
- You can talk to us in private and confidentiality
- We will not make judgements about your life and what you want to do
- We will tackle any discrimination or prejudice that you face
- We will not be influenced by any other interests but yours
Drop in service
We operate a drop in service every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday morning (except Bank Holidays) 10.00am-12.30pm and appointments only on the same afternoons 2pm - 4pm.
