Volunteering at Age UK Croydon
Age UK Croydon considers volunteers to be our most valuable resource. We currently have about 100 volunteers, who mostly help us for one day or two half days per week.
Volunteers at Age UK Croydon are valued, trusted and supported in their development and training, whilst giving back to the community. They get the chance to make a positive impact in people’s lives every day. They are given the opportunity to develop their individual skill-sets in a professional, diverse and sociable environment.
All together, AUKC receives over 10,000 enquiries each year from older people, their friends, family and/or carers as well as Social Services, Health Professionals and various charitable organisations. We have clear expectations from our volunteers. Essential qualities include reliability and commitment, an empathy with the needs of older people, and a friendly, patient and helpful manner. Our staff and volunteers represent the diverse culture and community whom we serve.
If you volunteer with us, you'll receive full induction training, and you'll be expected to attend regular training and support meetings relevant to your particular role. Our volunteers also have a regular Newsletter, Forum Meetings, and occasional social events including a Summer Outing and a New Year Party.
We want volunteering with us to be a positive experience for all concerned.
Age UK Croydon aims to enhance the independence, dignity and quality of life for all older people in the Borough of Croydon, and the range of services and support we provide would not be possible without the help of our volunteers.
