Many of you know us as Age Concern Gwynedd a Môn, but as from 7 November 2011, our name will be Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn. The idea, discussed for a long time, was to create a stronger collective voice for people in later life, reduce any rivalry and duplication, and end any obvious confusion over two charities with such similar names and goals. It also means that as Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn we are able to continue to give all the services we offered as Age Concern Gwynedd a Môn, and we hope offer more services in the near future.
In 1968 Caernarfonshire Old People’s Welfare Committee started serviced by officers of the local voluntary county organisation, by 1992 Age Concern Gwynedd was established and registered by the charity commission. Then in 1996 the new name of Age Concern Gwynedd a Môn was approved and expanded from Gwynedd to cover the two counties of Gwynedd and Anglesey. Now in 2011 our name has changed to Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn, and we will remain a local independent charity.
