Age Cymru supports 'Techy Tea Parties'

Published on 01 September 2014 09:00 AM

South Wales residents can learn new skills with the telephone giant ‘EE' later this to help them become computer whizzes.

Age Cymru is encouraging local older people to get involved with the company's ‘Techy Tea Parties' on 9 September.

At the events, they can learn how to stay in touch with friends and family, make the most of hobbies and interests, and access important services with computers.

Our colleague Michael Phillips says:

"With more services and information only available exclusively online there are real risks that older people who cannot use technology will be left out.

"We want to ensure that older people are able to access the information they need with confidence in this ever growing digital world.

"This is why we're delighted to support ‘EE's' Techy Tea Parties and are encouraging older people to get involved and learn new skills."

‘EE' will be holding Techy Tea Parties across all ‘EE' offices, contact centres, and retail stores to help the nation get connected.

Techy Tea Party ‘EE' digital champions will help you understand how being connected can work for you, over some tea and biscuits.

'Techy Tea Parties' in South Wales on 9 September:

• The ‘EE' store in St David's shopping centre, Cardiff will be running sessions 9.30 - 11.00 am to show people how technology can help them.

• There are two ‘Techy Tea Party' sessions taking place at ‘EE' at Rhyd Y Car Business Park, Merthyr Tydfil, Mid Glamorgan, CF48 1DH from 10 am - 12 pm and 2 pm - 4 pm.
