Age Cymru's new Head of Retail

Published on 04 September 2012 11:30 AM

Age Cymru has appointed Kevin Sheriton as our first ever Head of Retail.

He joins us from our sister charity, Age UK.

Says Kevin:

"I'm really enjoying working with the committed and passionate people who work and volunteer across all the different parts of Age Cymru.

"This new role provides me with a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop a sustainable retailing business to support the work of Wales's largest charity for older people.

"The people of Wales can be confident that when they visit one of our shops they will be helping Age Cymru to improve life for all older people across the country."
Kevin will be running a network of 10 charity shops across Wales and be responsible for 30 staff members and 150 volunteers.

Commenting on his appointment, Age Cymru's Director of Income Resources Richard Nicholls says:

"I'm really glad to welcome Kevin to Age Cymru - his experience and knowledge of the charity and retail sectors are vast and I have no doubt he will be a very valuable member of the team.

"Since Age Cymru was formed by 2009 by the merger of Age Concern Cymru and Help the Aged in Wales, our reputation and confidence has grown, as has the need for us to become financially self-sufficient.

"Kevin's appointment will help us to achieve this goal as we develop and expand the Age Cymru charity shop network to become a familiar and respected presence on high streets up and down the country.

"Being in close management control of the shops will also help us to develop links with local Age Cymru partners across Wales to promote their local services for older people."

Age Cymru has shops in Bangor, Colwyn Bay, Ebbw Vale, Mold, Monmouth, Porthcawl, Rhyl (High Street and Bodfor Street), Shotton and Wrexham as well as trading offices in Pontypridd and Cardiff.
