Congratulations to our Age Positive photography competition winners Joel Dixon and Meirwen Jones.

15-year-old Joel from Cwmbran took first prize in the under 16s category with his picture ‘Family traditions'.

Meirwen, who is from Caerphilly, won the 16s and over category with her photograph ‘Who said I am too old?'

"My Nana has always been a positive influence on me", said Joel.

"As a family, and particularly with my Nana, we love playing classic board games, of which Scrabble is a favourite.

"I felt this photo showed the positive things about ageing through an enjoyable game played with my family", he concluded.

"I love capturing the moments that hold a memory forever - some are planned others are spontaneous" commented Meirwen.

"I was pleased that my photo captured the depth of the special relationship that Reg has with his grandson Ben" she surmised.

Our Director of Influencing and Programme Development, Victoria Lloyd, said:

"The standard of entries in the Age Positive photography competition was very high.

"Joel's quirky use of the Scrabble board to portray the relationship between the different generations of his family struck a chord with our judges.

"Meirwen's picture was unanimously selected by the judges in her category, who thought it was a beautiful image depicting a very positive intergenerational message.

"Well done to Joel and Meirwen from all of us at Age Cymru - you are worthy winners."
