A Cardiff schoolboy has won a shiny new bike in a competition to design a poster for Age Cymru.

6-year-old Alessandro Simone is a pupil at St. Peter’s R.C Primary School in Roath.

He was the winner in the infants’ category of the Age Cymru Bobble Day poster competition as part of our Spread the Warmth campaign.

Says Alessandro:

“I’ve never won anything before and I needed a new bike, so this is great.

“I couldn’t believe it when they wheeled my new bike out at school and said I'd won.

“It was a surprise and I’m very proud as well.”

The bike was donated to Age Cymru by Don Skene Cycles on Newport Road in Cardiff.

Nia Butler of Age Cymru says:

“We’re very grateful to Don Skene Cycles for providing a pair of bikes for the Junior and Infants winners of our competition and congratulations to Alessandro on his design.

“The standard of the entries we received was high, but our judges felt that Alessandro’s design really stood out.

“It will feature on posters that will appear across Wales to promote our Age Cymru Bobble Day fundraising event on 8 February.”
