Graffiti, beatboxing and parkour for over 50s

Published on 13 May 2015 12:30 PM

Graffiti for the over 50s and ‘music with knitting needles' are two highlights of a programme of activities at the Wales Millennium Centre on Saturday 16 May.

The venue is hosting a series of free events for Age Cymru's Gwanwyn Festival - our month-long national arts festival for over 50s.

Contemporary composer Jobina Tinnemans will be performing a piece called ‘Killing Time' which features a chorus of knitters.

There'll be a chance for older people to have a go at the urban assault course sport of parkour, and graffiti and beatboxing.

TAN Dance's Tystion group of older dancers will be taking to the Glanfa Stage to perform.

There'll also be a ‘singing for the brain' workshop at the Cardiff Bay venue.

Says Emma Robinson, of the Gwanwyn Festival:

"If you're aged 50 or over, come down to the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay on Saturday 16 May for a fun-packed day.

"We'll be challenging ideas about what it means to be 50 or over by giving people the chance to have a go at activities that they've probably never tried - or had the chance to try, before.

"So pop down to see us at the Wales Millennium Centre this weekend and do something different".
