Growing Older in Wales

Published on 04 October 2011 09:00 AM

Age equality in the workplace will be under the spotlight at events across Wales over the coming month.

Growing Older in Wales - an Age Cymru programme to raise awareness of age equality issues that may affect older people, will be giving talks at a series of work-life balance events.

Dr Ceri Cryer, Growing Older in Wales's programme manager says:

"We're going to be running interactive workshop sessions to raise awareness among delegates of age equality issues at work and the attitudinal, institutional and environmental barriers that may perpetuate age discrimination.

"During the workshops we'll be looking at the United Nations Principles for Older Persons as well as how employers can age-proof their policies to reduce potential negative impact on older workers."

The events are being organised by Chwarae Teg to promote work-life balance and are taking place in Wrexham on 5 October, Cardiff on 18 October and 27 Swansea on October.
