International Women's Day

Published on 08 March 2012 01:00 PM

Age Cymru is today celebrating International Women's Day (IWD).

The theme of IWD this year is ‘Women and men united to end violence and domestic abuse against women'.

Louise Hughes, our Elder Abuse Programme Manager says:

"Abuse in any way, shape or form is unacceptable and Age Cymru has been marking IWD by attending events run by the National Federation of Women's Institutes - Wales in Llandundo on Tuesday, and the Pier Head building in Cardiff Bay today.

"These events have provided an opportunity for women across Wales to come together to celebrate IWD and Age Cymru has been collecting signatures for our Rule Out Abuse campaign charter to help eradicate elder abuse in Wales."

The IWD events have been funded by the Welsh Government and organised in partnership with Age Cymru, Hafan Cymru, BAWSO, Disability Wales, Age Cymru, Platform 51, NUS Wales, Aberconwy Domestic Abuse Service and SI Llandudno & District.
