John Moore to speak at social care event

John Moore, Programme Manager for Age Cymru's My Home Life Cymru programme, will be one of the speakers at a prestigious event in Cardiff this summer.
He will be appearing at the 'Older people and social care in Wales: standards, funding and improving residential care' seminar on 16 July.
Other guests will include Sarah Rochira, Older People's Commissioner for Wales and Gwenda Thomas AM, Deputy Minister for Social Services, Welsh Government.
The timely seminar focuses on care standards for older people in Wales and will provide stakeholders with the opportunity to discuss the Older People's Residential Care Review, due to be published in July 2014.
Sarah Rochira, Older People's Commissioner for Wales will be delivering her initial findings at this seminar.
Also scheduled as the Social Services (Wales) Bill is finalised in the National Assembly, this seminar will provide an opportunity for delegates - including local authorities, Local Health Boards, carers groups, care homes, domiciliary and voluntary service providers and charities as well as academics and lawyers - to discuss the wider challenges for older people's health and social care provision.
Delegates will also consider the funding of social care in Wales, particularly the challenges presented by current tough economic conditions and what approach Wales should adopt following the Dilnot Commission's Report recommendations, including capping care costs, increasing the means-tested threshold for care costs and introducing national eligibility criteria.
Sarah Rochira, Older People's Commissioner for Wales; Gwenda Thomas AM, Deputy Minister for Social Services, Welsh Government and Professor John Williams, Head of Law Department, Aberystwyth University will deliver keynote addresses at the seminar.
Keith Bowen, Director, Carers Wales; Jane Kelso, Director and Manager, Elliots Hill Care; Robin Moulster, Manager, British Association of Social Workers (BASW) Cymru and Rhian Huws Williams, Chief Executive, Care Council for Wales have also agreed to speak, together with a speaker confirmed from the Welsh Local Government Association.
Eluned Parrott AM, Chair, Cross Party Group on Dementia, National Assembly for Wales has kindly agreed to chair part of this seminar.
