Age Cymru has welcomed a report that dismisses claims that older people can’t drive as well as younger people
The report - published by the Canadian Medical Association Journal, suggests older people are more likely to be killed in road accidents because they are less likely to survive serious injuries than younger drivers.
Victoria Lloyd, Age Cymru’s Director of Influencing and Programme Development says:
“We believe that people should be able to drive no matter what age they are, including and above the age of 100 years – ability is what matters.
“For many older people driving is a way of remaining independent and mobile.
“This is why it’s so important that there are products like Age UK Car insurance, which have no upper age limit.”
