Holi Hana and Rick O'Shea at shop opening

Published on 19 December 2014 03:00 PM

S4C Cyw characters Holi Hana and Francis and rugby broadcaster Rick O'Shea were star guests at the opening of our Pontypridd 'hub' last week.

Hana, Francis and Rick welcomed local residents to the shop which last year put over half a million pounds back into the pockets of local older people.

Our Pontypridd 'hub' is a charity shop, advice centre and insurance office, located at 89B-90 Taff Street, Pontypridd, CF37 4SL (next door to Barclays Bank).

Rick O'Shea said:

"I care passionately about caring and supporting older people.

"I'm currently training to be a GP so I've seen all kinds of issues both from a medical and social perspective.

"I've seen the value older people contribute to their communities also through my rugby.

"I'm delighted to support Age Cymru - the work they do is invaluable and I would encourage everyone else to support them too."

General Manager of Age Cymru Pontypridd, Zoe Newland said:

"We would like to say a special thanks to S4C and Rick O'Shea for their support during our official opening.

"Many local residents came to say hello and to find out more about our services for older people, including our free welfare advice service.

"We're proud to provide local older people expert advice and assistance from our staff in our shop located in the heart of Pontypridd."

Our Pontypridd shop is now selling S4C Cyw merchandise, including soft toys, cards and books.

To speak to our staff on the phone or to arrange an appointment for information and advice, please call 0800 65 29 221.

The shop also provides an ‘age friendly' space thanks to retail designers Hugh Escott, with future plans to rent out our upstairs spaces to groups and associations.
