Age Cymru has teamed up with Western PowerDistribution (WPD) to help protect older people from criminals who target them with scam mail.

We've produced handy fact-packed door hangers to remind older people how to spot scam mail.

Age Cymru’s Chief Executive, Ian Thomas says:

“Older people need to be able to feel safe and secure in their homes and be confident that they can spot scams and cons.

“But unfortunately many older people do fall victim to a range of scams – including scam mail, and they end up losing an average of £1,200.

“Age Cymru is committed to find ways to tackle scams against older people and this is why we have teamed up withWPD to produce these door hangers."

WPD’s Network Services Manager for Wales, Phil Davies says:

“The safety of our customers and providing them with excellent customer service is our number one priority.

“This work ethos is built on our guiding principle of working with other organisations – such as Age Cymru, to try to deliver solutions to problems such as scam mail.

“We hope the door hanger scheme will empower and protect people and help them to feel safe and secure in their own homes.”

The door hangers are available from Age Cymru offices and shops across south Wales or by calling Age Cymru’s head office on 029 2043 1555.
