Wales's first 'No Cold Calling Village'

Published on 22 October 2013 11:00 AM

Well done to the residents of Llandegfan on Anglesey!

They have just voted to become Wales's first ever 'No Cold Calling Village'.

‘No Cold Calling Zones' play an important role in keeping unwanted callers, rogue traders and distraction burglars at bay in our communities.

Turning Llandegfan into a ‘No Cold Calling Village' takes the ‘No Cold Calling Zone' idea a step further and should give everyone in the village a shared sense of peace of mind and security.

Older people need more protection from criminals who ruthlessly steal from them through a variety of scams and swindles.

This is why Age Cymru would like to see what has happened in Llandegfan taking place in other parts of Wales.

Our ‘Scams and swindles' campaign is calling for more legally enforceable ‘No Cold Calling Zones' to be set up across the country.

Age Cymru commends Anglesey Trading Standards, North Wales Police and the people of Llandegfan for taking action to protect residents from unwanted callers.

We hope other communities and areas across Wales will now follow their example.
