Welsh Senate challenges the perceptions of ageing

Published on 25 September 2014 04:00 PM

The Welsh Senate of Older People is holding an intergenerational event on 29 September at the Urdd Centre, Cardiff Bay to challenge negative perceptions of ageing.

This event is being held as part of Age Positive Week - our new national celebration of all that is positive about ageing.

Roy Davies, Vice-Chair of the Welsh Senate of Older People says;

"We're delighted to hold this intergenerational event as part of Age Cymru's Age Positive Week.

"By bringing together people of all ages, we can begin to break down the age-barriers, by enjoying fun activities together.

"We need to challenge negative perceptions of ageing and start working together as a stronger intergenerational community."

Younger people from ‘Voices of Care', will be joining the event, giving them the opportunity to participate in activities with older people.

TAN Dance, a community group from Neath Port Talbot and Swansea, will lead a participatory session with older and younger people, alongside other older people's dance groups.

‘Challenging perceptions of ageing' is taking place at 1:30pm at the Urdd Centre, Cardiff Bay.

This event is funded by the Big Lottery Fund through Awards for All.
