Care home failings

Published on 13 June 2011 01:30 PM

Responding to newspaper reports over the weekend, that more than 1,800 homes for older and disabled people are not providing decent care with staff failing to ensure that the frail and vulnerable are properly fed, Age Cymru’s Director of Influencing and Programme Development Victoria Lloyd, says:

“This is an extremely worrying and inexcusable state of affairs.

“The level of care that people are entitled to receive when they enter a care setting cannot be compromised, particularly when they are some of the most vulnerable members of society.

“Older people and their families should be able to feel confident that they will always receive the highest standards of compassionate care, including making sure that they are getting all the food and drink they need, along with any help they need to consume it.”
