Pensions

Published on 11 March 2011 10:30 AM

Speaking in today’s Western Mail about pensions, Graeme Francis, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Age Cymru, comments:

“We need to encourage people to start thinking about the retirement they want to have much earlier than many people currently do.

“For many people the typical image of retirement as a time of enjoyment and financial freedom may not be a reality otherwise.

“Our main message is that people need to be thinking as early as possible about their future pension provision.

“With most final salary pension schemes no longer open to new recruits and replaced by defined contributions schemes, people need to start saving as early as possible to be reasonably confident of receiving a comfortable income in retirement.”
