Residential care consultation

Age Cymru wants members of the public to help us prepare a response to the National Assembly for Wales’ Health and Social Care Committee, which has launched an inquiry into residential care for older people in Wales.

The inquiry will look at issues including how residential care in Wales can meet the current and future needs of older people in Wales; how older people enter residential care and the availability of alternative services for them; the residential care sector’s ability to meet the needs of older people, as well as the quality of residential care and management of care home closures.

Amy Clifton, Age Cymru’s Policy Advisor says:

“Improving the residential care system and making sure that it is able to meet the needs of our ageing population is one of the biggest challenges facing society in Wales today.

“This is an important opportunity to influence the National Assembly for Wales’ work, in an area that is likely to affect us all – in one way another, in years to come.

“Age Cymru are inviting older people, their families and friends to contact us to share their views and opinions about the future of the residential care system.”
