Who we've helped

Here are some examples of how Age Cymru has helped older people to claim the money they were entitled to receive.

Mr and Mrs G

Mr and Mrs G told us they were finding it hard to make ends meet
We gave them a benefit health check and helped them claim
Council Tax allowance of £1,126.32, as well as a refund of £455.83 in Council Tax payments
Higher Rate Attendance Allowance of £77.45 a week
Pension Credit of £147.01 a week
Altogether, that’s a yearly increase of £12,798.24
We even managed to get £297.50 in opticians costs  back
All in all, Mr and Mrs G are £13,551.57 better off for speaking to Age Cymru

Mrs J

Mrs J came to us for a benefit healthcheck
We thought she was eligible for Attendance Allowance
The Department for Work and Pensions disagreed
We helped Mrs J to fill in all her forms and appeal against the DWP’s decision
We secured Mrs J back payments of £1,006.85 in Attendance Allowance and £1,164.00 in Pension Credit
She now receives £77.45 per week in Attendance Allowance
She also gets Severe Disability Premium of £58.20 every week
Mrs J is £9,224.65 better off thanks to Age Cymru
