Cross Party Group on Older People and Ageing

 

The Cross Party Group on Older People and Ageing works to ensure that the specific needs of older people are considered in the National Assembly for Wales and that Assembly Members with an interest in older people’s issues can come together to make a positive difference.

The group met several times in 2010 - 2011 to discuss the importance of age-friendly communities resulting in a report detailing three key recommendations:

The group first met in the new Assembly on 29th September 2011. At this meeting they agreed new opens link in new window Terms of Reference

The group comprises:

  • Mark Isherwood AM
  • Darren Millar AM
  • Keith Davies AM
  • Mike Hedges AM
  • Kirsty Williams AM
  • Lindsay Whittle AM

On 24 November 2011 the group met to discuss broad issues around wellbeing in later life. A lively discussion was had, with contributions from WRVS and Age Alliance Wales amongst others, individual members agreed to take actions forward.

The group will next meet in February to discuss Community Transport.
