News in brief from Derby

There are lots of opportunities for volunteers at the moment in Derby and also new groups starting. Please see the information below to see if there is anything you would like to get involved with. Please contact the Derby office on 01332 343232 for further information.

  • The Derby office of Age UK Derby and Derbyshire are looking for a very special volunteer, one that is interested in going out talking to older people and interested in helping in a support and development role for older people’s groups. You would need to be willing to commit to one or two days a week or possibly more if you have the time on your hands. For more details contact ray on 01332 343232. The Derby office are also looking for volunteers interested in Fundraising, Advocacy Support, Information and Advice, Campaigning and Activities.

 

  • A new Crochet group has started at Age UK Derby and Derbyshire’s 50+ Wellbeing Centre in the Eagle Market Derby and are looking for new members. The 50+ centre holds a number of exciting groups to enable people 50+ to get out and about and socialize and there is bound to be one which would suit yourself.   • Age UK Derby and Derbyshire’s Reach Out Plus Group for Gay and Bisexual meets every second Wednesday and new members are welcome especially those feeling socially isolated or lonely and looking for something to do on an afternoon rather than the evening. The group also meets on other days socially for theatre trips and meals. If you’re an older Gay woman and would be interested starting a women’s group in the afternoon for outings and trips please contact Ray at the Derby office on the above number.

 

  • Age UK Derby and Derbyshire are looking for small groups, across Derby City and Derbyshire who meet on a one off or regular basis in the year who might be interested in putting on a fundraising coffee morning or holding a tombola or similar to help us raise funds.
