Don't worry if cycling is new to you
The secret is to do a little at a time, starting with 15 -20 minutes, somewhere a person feels safe from potential hazards. At first it will be a case of controlling the bicycle in relation to road safety and becoming in tune with the rider's environment. Cycling can open doors to discovering the delights of the local countryside, by riding at a pace where the natural sights can be appreciated at leisure rather than glimpsed in a flash on a car journey.
Riders should wear appropriate clothing, footwear and are recommended to wear a helmet but it is not compulsory. It is advisable to take a drink with you.
Dudley MBC has received funding to enhance local parks within Dudley to encourage people to take exercise outside in the fresh air. Five parks within the borough have been selected to represent the major townships of Dudley. These are:
- Silver Jubilee Park (Coseley)
- Netherton Park (Dudley)
- The Dell Stadium (Brierley Hill)
- Mary Stevens Park (Stourbridge)
- Huntingtree Park (Halesowen
Our rides start from several of the above hubs and also other locations within and on the edge of Dudley Borough. We concentrate on riding skills to begin with and gradually extend rides to build strength, stamina and the opportunity to cycle in different locations.
