Gardening scheme
Age UK Dudley gardening scheme provides basic garden maintenance, which consists of monthly visits throughout the season (April-September) for grass cutting, tidying borders and trimming shrubs.
This service is for residents in the Dudley borough who are over 60, in receipt of benefits, cannot do their own garden because of ill health/disability and have no one to do it for them.
There is a minimum hourly charge for the service which is payable direct to the gardener on completion of each session of work. All gardeners bring their own petrol driven equipment and hold their own Public Liability Insurance.
The scheme does not cover larger jobs such as tree felling and landscaping – we can however provide names and telephone numbers of gardeners and tree surgeons who can carry out this type of work.
Please note, there is currently a waiting list for our gardening service, but we do have a register of qualified gardeners who will carry out work privately (prices will vary, so quotes for work should be obtained). The list is available upon request.
Partnership working in action
The gardening scheme works closely with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Social Services and Community Health Nurses.
