Toenail Cutting
Looking after your toenails will help you to keep mobile. Keeping mobile can help you to avoid becoming isolated and housebound – it will also help you to reduce your likelihood of having a fall and to avoid the general discomfort which accompanies long toenails.
About the service
As we grow older something as simple as cutting our own toenails can become much harder, or even impossible. Which is where our team of toenail trimmers comes in, travelling throughout Essex to help clients remain mobile, active and free from discomfort.
Our sessions are held at easily-accessible venues throughout Essex. They are by appointment, so you know when you will be seen and the dates and venues are advertised locally are available in our downloadable PDF booklet and in the activities and events section of the website.
We aim to give the highest possible level of service and all our trimmers are trained by the NHS Podiatry Service.
Cost of the service
To cover some of our costs we have to make a charge. There is a one-off £5 registration fee and every trim costs £13 if you come to one of our venues, or £20 if we come to your home in the Chelmsford area.
Booking an appointment
If you would like to book an appointment please telephone 01245 423 333 between 09:00 and 16:00 on weekdays or email us at toenails@ageukessex.org.uk
You can book an appointment to see us at one of our many accessible venues throughout Essex. Locations, times and dates are available in our downloadable PDF booklet and in the activities and events section of the web site.
If you live in Chelmsford and are unable to get to one of our venues, we will trim your toenails at your home.
Our volunteers
Our team of volunteers tackles administration at the venues, they are indispensable and we could not manage without them. If you would like to become a volunteer and help with our admin, please contact us on 01245 423 334 or email us at toenails@ageukessex.co.uk or look at the volunteer section.
Please note that unfortunately we are unable to trim your nails if you suffer from diabetes. If you have diabetes we suggest that you contact your GP for advice about having your toenails trimmed.
