Dementia Connections

If you are living with Dementia we may be able to work with you to help you rediscover your confidence and try new hobbies and activities.

Dementia Connections is a free, county-wide service being delivered by the Alzheimer’s Society and Age UK Essex. The service can be used by anyone who has dementia, doesn't live in residential care and is in need of short-term help to restore their confidence in or outside of their home.

How does Dementia Connections work?

We can offer you up to 12 hours of free support, helping you take part in an activity of your choice, either on a one-to-one basis or within a small group. The range of activities will be based on your individual needs and aspirations but can include where possible sports activities, shopping, craft-based interests and getting out and about within your local community.

One of our local Dementia Connections coordinators will help you set your personal goals and answer any questions you may have about the service. They will also allocate you with a carefully screened and trained volunteer who will help you work towards your goals.

How can I register for Dementia Connections?

You may refer yourself to the service or you may be referred to us by a friend, relative or carer, a health or social care professional, or a member of staff from a voluntary agency who knows you.
