The Age UK Essex Home Help team delivers a range of services from housework to shopping.
Our Home Help service provides a professional domestic cleaning service. We can help you with general housework duties including vacuuming, dusting and polishing furniture, laundry and cleaning the bathroom as well as collecting your weekly shop from the supermarket and picking up prescriptions for you.
How does the Home Help service work?
Many of our Home Help clients find our services help them remain independent and enable them to stay in their own home.
Where possible you will always have the same helper, who will get to know you and your tastes to make sure the work is done to your satisfaction. All our Home Help workers are trained, insured and police checked via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
What makes our service stand out is our ‘never walk away’ safety policy. If one of our clients is in difficulty or fails to answer the door, our fully trained Home Help workers will follow a pre-agreed emergency plan and will not leave until they know their client is safe. The health and wellbeing of our clients is at the heart of everything we do and our approach has been universally praised and gives great reassurance to both clients and their families.
Who can use the Home Help service?
Our Home Help service is available Monday to Friday, 8.30am-4.30pm excluding Bank Holidays.
Please note our Home Help workers are unable to provide personal care, administer medication or prepare food.
Is there a charge for the service?
There is a one-off registration fee and an hourly charge for the Home Help service. In addition, mileage is payable when a Home Help worker uses a vehicle for shopping trips.
