Barbara‚ who is in her early 60s‚ wanted to find new activities to fill her retirement. She had visited her doctor for a general check-up and was shocked to find‚ after being weighed and measured‚ that she was classified as 'obese'. So she decided to change her lifestyle‚ lose weight and get more active.
Barbara attended a Healthy Lifestyle Group‚ which was just the start of her involvement with fit as a fiddle. She now attends aerobics‚ Pilates and gym sessions every week and eats sensibly. Her friends and family have noticed and admired her steady weight loss. Barbara now only has a few pounds to lose to make her weight acceptable for her height.
As well as her slimmer figure (which has allowed her to have a whole new wardrobe of great clothes) Barbara has noticed improvements in her wellbeing. She finds everyday tasks much easier‚ and is able to walk instead of taking the bus‚ carry shopping‚ and make it up hills without getting out of puff!
Moreover‚ her new energy and confidence have boosted her relationship with her husband - they go out more together‚ and she is delighted with his compliments!
Barbara says that getting fitter and losing weight has been easy in such friendly surroundings. She is really pleased that she took the decision to turn her lifestyle around‚ and intends to stay fit and active.
There is an added bonus for the programme‚ as Barbara is a very friendly member of the groups she attends and always encourages other participants and extols the benefits of the programme - we are hoping to sign her up as a Senior Health Mentor!
