Your thoughts on happiness

When we asked you what makes you happy, it quickly became clear that it’s the little things in life that put a smile on your face.

Even though some of us might be suffering with poor health, struggling financially or missing a much-loved partner, the simple pleasures can still give us a real boost.

Ruth Granger said: 'Sunshine mainly, meeting and laughing with friends and a good cup of tea.'

Maggie Jones added: 'My children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also my friends.'

Meanwhile, Sara Page said: 'Seeing the sun' and Helen Hastings agreed: 'Retirement, glass of wine or two, twin grandsons, wonderful daughter, good friends, clean sheets on the bed, sunshine!'
