This course aims to raise awareness of challenging behaviour in care and voluntary settings. Candidates will have the opportunity to consider the ways in which personal, environmental and situational factors impact upon a client's behaviour.
A range of appropriate strategies to manage challenging behaviour will be explored and evaluated including:
- understanding why challenging behaviour occurs
- identifying a range of potential triggers
- knowing what actions to take when faced with challenging behaviour
- explaining how staff might reduce incidents of challenging behaviour with clients and with their co-workers
