This course incorporates pre-course reading building on workplace experiences. This course is for managers, team leaders, carers and volunteers who are looking after people experiencing dementia on a day-to-day basis and wish to extend their knowledge and implement change in current dementia care practices.
The course includes:
- understanding dementia: its nature and underlying causes
- dementia: effects and experiences
- practical skills in client engagement for clients with dementia
- understanding and implementing person-centered care
- person-centered approaches to therapeutic activity
- developing enabling environments for care
- essential leadership skills in person-centered care
- late stage and end of life care for those experiencing dementia
