Effective control of infection is essential in all health care environments. This course will cover how to:
- inform and plan to reduce the risks of infection or cross contamination (as far as is reasonably practicable) for all clients, staff and visitors in care settings
- highlight legal responsibility and relevant polices and procedures to identify types of common infections
- identify those most susceptible to the effects of infection
- consider modes of infection

- identify good practice in control of infection
- examine the duty and role of the carer and housekeeping staff in maintaining effective infection control in care settings
- engage in forward planning of procedures for a specific outbreak
