Infection control

Effective control of infection is essential in all health care environments. This course will cover how to:

 

  • inform and plan to reduce the risks of infection or cross contamination (as far as is reasonably practicable) for all clients, staff and visitors in care settings
  • highlight legal responsibility and relevant polices and procedures to identify types of common infections
  • identify those most susceptible to the effects of infection
  • consider modes of infectionControl of infection
  • identify good practice in control of infection
  • examine the duty and role of the carer and housekeeping staff in maintaining effective infection control in care settings
  • engage in forward planning of procedures for a specific outbreak
