The aim of this course is to develop an understanding of safe manual handling principles and practices. Candidates will be asked to:
- consider the use of appropriate equipment to reduce the risk of injury to staff and clients and to improve the quality of client care
- examine relevant legislation and guidance relating to the safe moving and handling of clients
- undertake a range of practical assessments to assess competence in work appropriate moves

- consider basic anatomy/physiology
- consider essential back care
