Moving and handling (people) — update

The aim of this course is to develop an understanding of safe manual handling principles and practices. Candidates will be asked to:

 

  • consider the use of appropriate equipment to reduce the risk of injury to staff and clients and to improve the quality of client care
  • examine relevant legislation and guidance relating to the safe moving and handling of clients
  • undertake a range of practical assessments to assess competence in work appropriate movesMoving and handling people
  • consider basic anatomy/physiology
  • consider essential back care
