Celebrating our Volunteers

17 May 2017

Volunteers’ Week is a great opportunity to thank all of our 120 volunteers for the contribution and commitment they have to the work of Age UK Islington. Without them, we would not be able to deliver the extent of the work and support that we can provide to those people in the Borough of Islington who are in need.

The work of Age UK Islington very much focuses on helping people to maintain their wellbeing and to provide help, where needed early on.

Milestones this year:

Since the Wellbeing calling service started in September 2016, volunteers have made 743 contacts, with 30% of those calls ending up with support being put in place to the recipients of those calls.

Last year 377 Get Together sessions took place across Islington, from gallery visits to IT in a pub, all hosted by fabulous volunteers.

98 clients benefitted from grants to help with fuel bills and with urgently needed household items such as furniture and white goods, in the last quarter, all administrated by volunteers.

To celebrate these volunteering achievements and more, we will be having a “Volunteers - Thank you” event, on Monday 26 June at the very special venue of The Crypt on the Green. The event will be very generously be sponsored by Santander.

Existing Age UK Islington Volunteers are invited to meet with other volunteers, the Chief Executive and Service Managers – there will be a buffet, entertainment and a raffle with a truly stunning top prize.

This is one of the key events in our Age UK Islington volunteering calendar, so we do hope you can make it.  Please let Claire in the Age UK Islington Volunteer Team know if you can attend.
