Who we are

Age UK Kensington & Chelsea is an independent, local charity working at the heart of the community to make sure that older people’s voices are heard, their needs are met and their independence is supported. We provide a wide range of services including befriending, practical help, information and advice and a variety of social and leisure activities.

Our Board

	Bob Empson is Chair of Age UK Kensington & Chelsea with effect from 1 April 2022. He lives and works locally in Hammersmith and has had a long association with Kensington & Chelsea where his parents lived for nearly 30 years. Bob is a management consultant; he brings with him extensive experience of working with clients on strategy, governance and fundraising. He was previously a Trustee on the Board of the UK’s Stroke Association for 9 years until October 2020; for a time he was also a Vice-Chair (interim) of the charity. Bob has also been a Trustee of the Foundation for Assistive Technology. Bob is a keen runner and has already registered to run and fundraise for Age UK Kensington & Chelsea in the Royal Parks half marathon in October 2023!Bob says: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Chair of Age UK Kensington & Chelsea. I look forward to working with staff and volunteers to build on the charity’s achievements in recent years, putting clients at the centre of what we do, and working in partnership with other organisations who share our ambition and values.”
	Henry Wrigley joined the AUKC Board in September 2022 and is the Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee. He is a qualified accountant and Insead alumni. He worked in corporate finance and then private equity investment with entrepreneurial businesses. After this, he has been Finance Director and Trustee for a number of charities and creative businesses, including a computer games business. He has lived and worked in Nepal, India, China and Malawi.
	Chris Morgan was appointed as a Trustee in 2015. She set up the Quality, Performance and Development Committee which she chairs, and which now holds the remit for Human Resources. She is a member of the Finance and Risk Committee. Chris has worked as a Nurse and Social Worker in health care and social services in northwest London for most of her professional career. Chris has continued in clinical practice, primarily as a Nurse for Brook London, and as a Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission. She also works as a Community Assessor supporting the current Police recruitment drive.
	Kate Scally is currently the Director of Engagement at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, prior to which she has held senior marketing roles in both the not-for profit and commercial sectors. Following a career in marketing, primarily in the retail and media sector, Kate worked for organisations including Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Hearst, BBC, and DMGT. Latterly, Kate transferred into the charity sector working initially in an interim capacity for Marie Curie and then Bloodwise (now Blood Cancer UK) during times of organisational restructure. Age UK K&C is Kate’s first role as a Trustee and it follows on from a term as a co-opted Governor for a local school.
	Sarah Fahy has worked in the City for over 30 years holding roles in investment banking, consultancy and now the legal industry. Right now she manages the global research and library function for international law firm Allen & Overy. She has experience in contract, risk and budget management which she is hoping will be of use to Age UK K&C - She is incredibly honoured to be accepted onto the Board.
	Pandora Wright is a consultant geriatrician and physician at Charing Cross hospital, splitting her time between acute medical wards where she leads the older persons assessment and liaison team, acute general medicine and in the community, where she work directly with local GPs. Her special interest is in community and integrative medicine and care of older people. She is a recent past president of the geriatric section of the Royal Society of medicine, and still sit on the council, having been appointed to the section in 2013. "I am now honoured to support Age UK as a trustee."
	Nicole Kim joined AUKC Board in June 2023. Previously she was a Board Trustee at HEART UK (cholesterol charity) as a member of the Finance & Risk committee. Nicole is a senior business development director with over 16 years of experience in multinational financial services, data and technology companies. Currently, she leads business development efforts globally for an AI-driven biomedical knowledge discovery platform company based in the US. Nicole is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Cutlers and a member of the Charities Committee. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council which is on the Professional Standard Authority (PSA) Accredited Register. Nicole has been working with the elderly and patients from the wider demographics in the City of London, Victoria, Chelsea and Westminster areas for over 4 years.

Our History

The charity was set up in 1973 as Age Concern Kensington & Chelsea and incorporated as a charitable company in 2000. With the needs of older people always in the forefront of the charity’s work, Age Concern K&C was strengthened by merging with Sixty Plus in April 2009, reflecting the changing nature of the charitable sector and the needs of older people over the years. With the national merger of Help the Aged and Age Concern, the charity became Age UK Kensington & Chelsea in 2010.
