Our Befriending service offers weekly support to people aged 55 and over who live alone in Kensington & Chelsea and are at risk of becoming isolated.

Weekly visits mean that people are able to keep in touch with the outside world through their volunteers. Our volunteers help to combat isolation by making regular visits to older people, providing companionship and a listening ear.

The scheme is available to older people (55+) who:

  • Find it difficult to get out due to frailty or a physical disability
  • Feel isolated due to a sensory impairment have fewer social contacts than they would like.

Visits are usually once a week for 1 – 2 hours. If requested, the volunteers may take wheelchair users out, or act as an escort for a person with mobility problems.
